MoveOn.org and actress Lisa Edelstein, best known for her role as Dr. Lisa Cuddy on House, have cut a new ad covering for Planned Parenthood, who has been exposed over the last couple of weeks by Live Action’s sting videos.
Edelstein and MoveOn.org accuse the Republican Party of launching a full assault on women. They accuse Republicans of wanting to push women into unsafe back-alley abortions.
How can MoveOn.org and the pro-abortion movement continue to ignore the crimes taking place in abortion clinics and Planned Parenthood clinics across America?
Over the last few weeks, the horrific story of Kermit Gosnell’s Philadelphia abortion mill has unfolded. Gosnell has been charged with multiple counts of murder, and prosecutors said that he could have been charged for a “hundred murders.” Gosnell was a human monster, abusing his patients with no regard for their health or well-being. To quote a previous blog post:
When one of Gosnell’s patients told him that she did not want an abortion, Gosnell proceeded to take her clothes of and hit her, fighting the 87-pound teenager for more than thirty minutes. He tied her down to the medical bed, telling her, “This is the same care that I would give to my own daughter.” After being given drugs, she was knocked unconscious for more than 12 hours.
One victim was in so much pain after the abortion that she could hardly sit. Gosnell performed an ultrasound and found that there were still remains from the baby in her womb. He proceeded to suck them out without any anesthesia, telling his victim at the end to “stand up, you aren’t in that much pain.”
Is this the kind of respect that MoveOn.org and Edelstein believe women deserve? The abortion industry they support was complicit in Gosnell’s crimes. The National Abortion Federation knew of the filthy, disgusting condition of Gosnell’s office and neglected to report their findings to anyone. Would MoveOn.org and Edelstein prefer that Congress turn a blind-eye to the abuses perpetrated by abortion clinics, much like the Pennsylvania Department of Health?
…[t]he Pennsylvania Department of Health abruptly decided, for political reasons, to stop inspecting abortion clinics at all. The politics in question were not anti-abortion, but pro. With the change of administration from [pro-life] Governor Casey to [pro-abortion] Governor Ridge, officials concluded that inspections would be “putting a barrier up to women” seeking abortions. Even nail salons in Pennsylvania are monitored more closely for client safety. Without regular inspections, providers like Gosnell continue to operate; unlawful and dangerous third-trimester abortions go undetected; and many women, especially poor women, suffer.
The Live Action videos released over the past couple of weeks also show what little care Planned Parenthood has for women who are exploited by the sex trafficking industry. It is rather ironic that Edelstein would support such an organization, considering a stand she once took early in her career:
Lisa discussed how — at the tender age of 16 — she was a cheerleader for a professional football team owned by Donald Trump.
Ms. Edelstein soon got in trouble at her job, though. She organized a protest, because the team was forcing the cheerleaders to go and stand in bars while wearing their tiny, tiny uniforms. Lisa said she felt this was “akin to prostitution.” So she started a cheerleader strike.
Edelstein took a courageous stance then in fighting back against what she considered an exploitation of women. It is tragic that she can see video evidence of Planned Parenthood’s aiding and abetting on the sex trafficking of minors and cut an ad supporting the clinics, not the exploited young girls.
It is also ironic that Edelstein supports other organizations like Best Friends Animal Society and Save the Children. One of Best Friends Animal Society’s key operations is the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, which is a no-kill center for displaced and homeless animals. We all love our pets and care for stray animals; why can Edelstein not see that unborn children deserve the same protections?
Save the Children unfortunately works closely with pro-abortion groups, despite their emphasis on protecting children from exploitation and abuse, as well as natural and man-made disasters. Does Edelstein refuse to believe Planned Parenthood’s aiding and abetting of human traffickers? Does she not consider the destruction of over 50 million lives in the United States since 1973 a man-made disaster?
We pray that Lisa Edelstein will use her feminist activism to protect young girls from the abuse and exploitations of the abortion industry and sex-traffickers. We pray that she will realize that the founders of the feminist movement were unabashedly pro-life. We pray that she will see that Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers are the ones leading the assault on women, not our courageous pro-life congressional leaders.
