Pro-life nurses in New Jersey are moving forward with their lawsuit against the University of Medicine and Dentistry, having been forced against their will to assist in abortions or face losing their jobs.
The Washington Post reported that one of the nurses was deliberately asked to assist in an abortion. Nurse Fe Esperanza R. Vinoya said a manager told her: “‘you just have to catch the baby’s head. Don’t worry, it’s already dead.’ ”
Imagine the horror that Nurse Vinoya experienced at this request made by her manager. Within every work environment, an employee wants their morals to be valued and respected, but the morals and opinions of these women have been pushed aside. Despite having made their values clear, the nurses claim that their manager still insisted they participate in abortion cases.
The University Hospital is fighting back and has issued a statement that “no nurse is compelled to have direct involvement in, and/or attendance in the room at the time of, a procedure to which she or he objects based on his/her cultural values, ethics and/or religious beliefs.”
If this statement is true, why would the manager put a nurse in a position that contradicts her moral beliefs when her views were made clear?
Over at the LifeNews.com blog, Thomas Peters has this to say: “For a movement that claims to be for “choice”, pro-aborts absolutely cannot admit that pro-life nurses have a choice not to assist at abortions.”
If a woman has the choice and she chooses life, her decision should not be scrutinized or criticized. If pro-choice citizens are truly passionate about a person’s right to choose then they should stick to what they believe and let the pro-lifers stand up for their choice-LIFE.
