Washington, D.C. – Today SBA Pro-Life America’s Candidate Fund announced its endorsement of Mayra Flores (R) for Congress in Texas’ 34th District special election.
“Mayra Flores is a staunch advocate for Texas women and children and we’re excited to help send her to Congress,” said Hon. Marilyn Musgrave, SBA Pro-Life America’s vice president of government affairs. “Mayra knows how precious the right to life and all our freedoms are, and will fight for all children – born and unborn – to have the opportunity to achieve the American dream. She has worked hard serving the most vulnerable among us and will lead with compassion. Pro-abortion extremists like Vicente Gonzalez, who won’t even support medical care for babies who survive abortions, are dramatically out of touch with South Texas values. Washington needs more fresh voices like Mayra’s and we urge all pro-life Texans to get out and support her on June 14.”
Flores was born in Burgos Tamaulipas, Mexico and immigrated to the U.S. when she was six years old. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley and went on to become a naturalized American citizen. Working her way through school, she is now a respiratory care practitioner, working as a caregiver for the elderly and disabled with chronic respiratory issues. Flores is active in her community, serving as the Hidalgo County GOP Hispanic Outreach Chair. A proud U.S. Customs and Border Protection wife, she and her husband have four children.
