Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser was in Nebraska yesterday highlighting the state’s efforts to build a culture of life. The visit is the first stop to showcase the work of pro-life leaders in the states to serve women and protect children.
Marjorie met with Gov. Jim Pillen who shared about his state’s journey in helping mothers and guarding the rights on unborn children.
In Nebraska yesterday, @TeamPillen spoke with @MarjorieSBA about the need to build a culture of life in the states:
“I think it’s really, really important that we all work together, that we have culture across borders and that it goes a wide swath . . . If we can keep working… pic.twitter.com/ja1BSw5zIw

The governor and Marjorie held a pregnancy center roundtable. The governor shared his powerful story of raising his children and then he and his wife adopting after becoming empty nesters. When asked by the governor what their biggest needs are, pregnancy center leaders responded by saying counselors, translators, food, and housing assistance.
The group then toured the pregnancy center.
In the sonogram room, pregnancy center officials talked about how crucial an ultrasound is and allowing the mother to her see her baby.
Marjorie, Jennifer Gutierrez (CEO of NE Pregnancy Care Alliance), and Linda Logsdon (ED of Women’s Resource Center) sat down with Elizabeth Rembert of Nebraska Public Media to talk about the vitality of the services that pregnancy centers provide.
Marjorie also had the opportunity to sit down for an interview with Karen Bowling of the Nebraska Family Alliance.
“We thank Gov. Jim Pillen and those leading Nebraska’s pregnancy centers for their efforts to support moms and babies in the state, and for welcoming us to Nebraska as our first stop to highlight the work of pro-life leaders,” Marjorie said.
“After enacting a critical 12-week protection into law last year, Nebraska’s pregnancy centers are coming alongside women with unplanned pregnancies to offer free ultrasounds, counseling, diapers, formula and housing assistance. Gov. Pillen and legislative leaders have taken action to support Nebraska’s pregnancy centers with tax credits so that more women have help during pregnancy and after a child is born.”
This legislative session, Nebraska lawmakers passed a law on tax credits for pregnancy centers that provide free ultrasound, diapers, strollers, baby clothes and more to babies and mothers in need. Gov. Pillen signed that bill into law as well as a measure to extend the time that newborns can be surrendered at a hospital, fire station, law enforcement agency or emergency care provider.
Also this year, the Governor issued a proclamation declaring 2024 as the year to advance Nebraska’s culture of life and launched AGoodLife.NE.Gov with resources for moms and babies.
According to 2023 data released by Nebraska’s Health and Human Services Department which contains abortion numbers from January through December of last year, there was a 9% decrease in abortions and 69% drop in abortions after 12 weeks last year. Gov. Jim Pillen signed the state’s 12-week pro-life bill into law in May of 2023 which went into effect immediately.
