Whitmer “Fights Like Hell” to Prop Up Abortion Industry & Impose Abortion on Demand Until Birth
Washington, D.C. – Ahead of tonight’s gubernatorial debate in Michigan, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America called out Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer on her record of pro-abortion extremism.
“Gretchen Whitmer is a pro-abortion radical who says she will ‘fight like hell’ to prop up the abortion industry and impose abortion on demand until birth,” said SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Whitmer promotes abortion on demand, even brutal late-term abortions when an unborn child can feel pain, as an economic strategy to ‘poach’ business from states with pro-life laws. She vetoed funding for compassionate alternatives to abortion, including pregnancy centers that serve tens of thousands of Michigan women and families a year and provide millions of dollars in medical services free of charge. She even refuses to condemn the shooting of a peaceful pro-life advocate.”
Pro-life organizations and individuals have faced an unprecedented wave of vandalism and violent attacks since the leak of the draft Dobbs Supreme Court decision. In Michigan, a man has been arrested in the shooting of an elderly pro-life volunteer who was canvassing in opposition to a pro-abortion ballot initiative, and a Southfield pregnancy center was vandalized in September.
Dannenfelser continued, “Whitmer and the Democrats’ vile and extreme positions are out of step with Michiganders’ values, and voters deserve the truth. We call on the media to demand answers from Whitmer, who has yet to name a single limit on abortion she supports. There could not be a starker contrast with Tudor Dixon, who will stand up to the abortion lobby and fight for the people.”
