SBA List: Jolly has “disqualified himself from the Florida Senate Republican primary” after Voting to End Investigation into Planned Parenthood’s Baby Organ Trade

Washington, D.C. – Today Rep. David Jolly (R-FL) voted to end the Select Panel on Infant Lives tasked with investigating the abortion industry’s involvement in the trafficking of fetal body parts. The panel was created following the release of horrific undercover videos last summer.

Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following comment:

“Planned Parenthood has been caught on tape discussing the brutal harvest and sale of baby body parts. How can anyone in good conscience stop the investigation of these horrors? Does it matter if there is profit or illegal abortion methods involved in pursuit of thymus, heart, brain, liver of these children? Of course it does. The question is why would Rep. Jolly buy into Planned Parenthood’s talking points to halt the inquiry?  He has just allied himself with the underbelly of the abortion industry and disqualified himself from the Florida Senate Republican primary. He has betrayed the pro-life movement and does not deserve the support of conscientious Floridians.”

This is not the first time Rep. Jolly has sided with the abortion lobby. In 2015, he voted against allowing states to exclude abortion businesses as eligible Medicaid providers, and voted against conscience protection legislation. Rep. Jolly is the only House Republican opposed to investigating the abortion industry through the select panel.

Rep. Jolly’s vote opposing the panel occurred this morning during an Appropriations Committee mark-up in which an amendment was offered to disband the Select Panel.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
