Collins has been a Faithful Advocate for the Sanctity of Life

Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life organization Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) has announced its endorsement of Rep. Doug Collins for reelection in Georgia’s Ninth Congressional District.

“Congressman Collins has been a faithful advocate for the sanctity of life and we are proud to endorse him in his reelection bid,” said Susan B. Anthony List Vice President of Government Affairs, former Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave. “Rep. Collins has a pristine pro-life voting record and fully supported the defunding of Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business, through the reconciliation process. The legislation made it all the way to President Obama’s desk where it was sadly vetoed. Former Congressman Paul Broun’s efforts to label Doug as ‘weak’ on pro-life issues is deceptive and wrong. In fact, it was then-Congressman Broun who voted against the pro-life movement’s biggest legislative priority, the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, in 2013.

“We look forward to sending Rep. Collins back to Washington where he will continue to be a consistent champion of the unborn, their mothers, and pro-life taxpayers,” Musgrave added.

Rep. Collins accepted the endorsement saying:

“When my daughter, Jordan, was diagnosed in utero with Spina Bifida, my wife and I were pressured to abort her. We chose life, and it was at that moment that being pro-life became much more than a political talking point for me. I am eternally grateful for organizations like Susan B. Anthony List that work every day to save the lives of innocent babies. I am honored to receive the endorsement of such a stalwart of the pro-life cause.”

Doug Collins has served as a representative in both the Georgia legislature and the U.S. Congress and is also a pastor and Air Force Chaplain. Representative Collins is a co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act as well as the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, among other pro-life bills.

The candidates will face off in the primary election on May 24.

Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
