Washington, DC ─ Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Congressman Bobby Schilling for Illinois’ 17th Congressional District.

“Representative Schilling’s perfect pro-life voting record shows exactly why we need his voice for Life in the U.S. House of Representatives,” said Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The contrast between Congressman Schilling and EMILY’s List candidate Cheri Bustos could not be clearer to voters. Illinois women and unborn children deserve Rep. Schilling’s dedicated pro-life leadership and we are proud to support him in this race.”

An Illinois native and owner of Saint Giuseppe’s Heavenly Pizza in Moline, IL, Schilling was first elected to Congress in 2010 after defeating pro-abortion incumbent Congressman Phil Hare. Rep. Schilling has fought against taxpayer funding of abortion, funding for Planned Parenthood, and for the repeal of President Obama’s pro-abortion health care reform legislation. He has been endorsed by National Right to Life, Illinois Federation for Right to Life, and CatholicVote.org.  His opponent, Cheri Bustos, is supported by EMILY’s List, an organization which supports partial birth abortion and ending parental notification laws.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List is a nationwide network of more than 365,000 Americans dedicated to mobilizing, advancing, and representing pro-life women in politics.  Its connected Candidate Fund increases the percentage of pro-life women in the political process.
