Washington, DC ─ Today, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Ron DeSantis for Florida’s 6th Congressional District.  He will face Heather Beaven in November.

“The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse Ron DeSantis for Florida’s sixth district,” said Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Ron is firmly committed to protecting Life and getting taxpayers out of the abortion business by repealing Obamacare, the largest expansion of abortion on demand since Roe v. Wade. Ron represents the true views of women and families on this issue far better than his opponent, Heather Beaven, who has accepted the endorsement of the pro-abortion Women’s Campaign Fund. Florida women and families deserve a leader who will fight for them, not a politician beholden to the abortion lobby.”

Ron DeSantis is a graduate of Yale University and Harvard Law School. As a commissioned JAG officer in the U.S. Navy he has earned numerous accolades including the Bronze Star for his service. In August, DeSantis won a 7-way primary with 38 percent of the vote to become the Republican candidate for Florida’s 6th Congressional District. DeSantis has received the endorsement of the Club for Growth, FreedomWorks, CatholicVote, the Conservative Victory Fund, Combat Veterans for Change, and Eagle Forum.

His opponent Heather Beaven has been endorsed by the Women’s Campaign Fund. In 2010, Beaven challenged incumbent Rep. John Mica and lost 69 percent to 31 percent.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate, and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its connected Political Action Committee, the SBA List Candidate Fund, are dedicated to electing candidates and pursuing policies that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the election, education, promotion, and mobilization of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
