Washington, DC ─ Today, the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Vernon Parker for Arizona’s 9th Congressional District.  He will face EMILY’s List candidate Kyrsten Sinema in November.

“The Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund is proud to endorse Vernon Parker,” said Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Parker’s opponent, state Senator Kyrsten Sinema, is so committed to abortion on-demand that she has opposed every commonsense pro-life measure to come up in the Arizona State Senate. Since 2006, Sinema has voted against bans on partial-birth abortion and abortions past the point at which unborn children feel pain. Sinema even opposed a ban on sex-selective abortions – failing to protect unborn babies from being targeted simply because they are the ‘wrong’ gender, usually a girl. Women – born and unborn – deserve better than Kyrsten Sinema. Vernon Parker will be a strong advocate for Arizona women and families and we look forward to his leadership in Washington.”

Vernon Parker fought adversity to become the first member of his family to attend college. He has since served as Special Assistant to President George H.W. Bush, Assistant Secretary at the United States Department of Agriculture, and Mayor of Paradise Valley, Arizona. Parker has received the endorsement of National Right to Life, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, President George H.W. Bush and various members of the Arizona delegation.

A staunch abortion advocate, former Arizona State Senator Kyrsten Sinema has been endorsed by EMILY’s List, NARAL, NOW, Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona and the Women’s Campaign Fund.

During the 2010 election cycle, SBA List spent $11 million and was involved in 90 races, 62 of which resulted in victories. Successes included: defeating 15 of 20 so-called “pro-life” Democrats who voted for abortion funding in the health care reform bill, increasing the number of pro-life women in the House by 70 percent, filling the void of pro-life women in the U.S. Senate, and increasing the number of pro-life women governors from one to four.

The Susan B. Anthony List, and its affiliated Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, are dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates that will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List will emphasize the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
