In response to a recent New York Times op-ed entitled “You Can’t Be Pro-Life and Against Immigrant Children,” the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List issued the following statement:
“From its inception Susan B. Anthony List has been completely dedicated to protecting the first right without which no other rights matter: the right to life. Our sole mission is to restore that profound right. Therefore, we refrain from public comment on immigration and many other topics, including other policies that impact families. It is not in our purview to speak on behalf of our members on other issues,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.
“Mr. Camosy claims to share SBA List’s view that abortion is the taking of an innocent human life. Yet, not only does he criticize those who are singularly focused upon restoring the first right, the right to live, he fails to pursue strategies in his party to correct the injustice of abortion. Then he exploits the abortion issue, the intentional taking of a human life by using it as a sub-argument in support of all other issues he believes to impugn human dignity.”
