Pro-life Pompeo Possesses Outstanding Qualifications to Head State Dept.
Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) today released the following statement urging the U.S. Senate to confirm Mike Pompeo, President Trump’s nominee for Secretary of State:
“Mike Pompeo possesses outstanding qualifications to serve as our nation’s Secretary of State. He is strongly pro-life and will uphold the dignity of every human being as America’s top diplomat,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The State Department is the first line of enforcement for President Trump’s pro-life agenda in foreign policy, from preventing American tax dollars from being used to promote abortion overseas, to defunding the UNFPA which has long been complicit in China’s brutal population control regime, to standing up to the international abortion lobby’s demand to declare abortion a ‘human right.’ Hillary Clinton and John Kerry were confirmed for the same position with overwhelming bipartisan support. A leader as capable as Pompeo deserves no less. We look forward to seeing him swiftly confirmed.”
Ahead of this week’s vote, SBA List launched a five-figure digital ad and phone call campaign targeting key Senators and urging them to vote to confirm Pompeo. The campaign has reached and mobilized more than 100,000 pro-life activists, generating hundreds of constituent phone calls.
