Judge Sides with Abortion Industry at Expense of Women, Children, Taxpayers

Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) today expressed deep disappointment when U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle issued a preliminary injunction against a Florida law that would ensure necessary and reasonable inspections for abortion facilities and prevent state funds from going to entities that perform abortions, hours before it was to take effect.

“Today, one District Court judge sided with the abortion industry over the will of the people of Florida,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Taxpayers should not be forced to fund Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business, which not only ends the lives of thousands of unborn babies but has been caught illegally profiting from the sale of their organs. Clinics should be under the same scrutiny as any other facility that does outpatient surgery, to protect women from the likes of James Pendergraft and other abortionists who cannot be bothered to change the dangerous conditions and shoddy practices rampant in their industry.

“When the courts fail to put an end to such terrible abuses, it is clear that the only remedy left is the ballot box. We must elect more pro-life leaders at all levels of government.”

SBA List’s Florida field team, a ground operation of 110 canvassers, have knocked on more than 200,000 doors during this election cycle.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $15.25 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 365,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
