Washington, D.C. –  Today Missouri Circuit Court Judge Michael Stelzer blocked the Missouri health department from revoking the license of the state’s last abortion facility, Planned Parenthood of St. Louis, a facility with an extensive history of health and safety violations.

The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement in response:

“The Missouri health department has been tasked with safeguarding the health and safety of Missouri women and children. The only people who face ‘immediate and irreparable injury,’ so long as the St. Louis Planned Parenthood remains open, are unborn children and their mothers,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “This particular facility’s track record shows an appalling pattern of botched abortions and other violations that prove they are incapable of policing themselves. Planned Parenthood does not deserve special treatment and the health and safety of women should never come second to the abortion industry’s bottom line. We thank Governor Parson and the state health department for their efforts to hold abortion businesses accountable for harming women.”

SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders. ###
