Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. House of Representatives passed the budget resolution that allows committees to start drafting the reconciliation bill. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America welcomed the news:
“Thanks to Speaker Johnson’s effective leadership, the House of Representatives just unlocked the next step in the process that allows Congress to start drafting the reconciliation bill,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America. “Through reconciliation, our government can finally seize the opportunity to stop the flow of American tax dollars to Big Abortion. Funneling hundreds of millions of dollars to businesses like Planned Parenthood is a terrible investment and budget reconciliation is the most effective remedy to stop this. We look forward to continuing to work with House and Senate leadership as they craft the reconciliation bill. It’s time to stop forcing taxpayers to fund an industry responsible for America’s leading cause of death – abortion.”
Reconciliation bills in 2015 and 2017 included a provision to stop funneling American tax dollars to Big Abortion. This year, Congress can finally end funding for an industry that endangers women, kills unborn children and spends millions lobbying for abortion on demand with no limits. Per their last annual report, Planned Parenthood alone took the lives of nearly 400,000 babies and received almost $700 million – nearly $2 million a day – from taxpayers in just one year.
SBA Pro-Life America and more than 150 pro-life groups across all 50 states are asking Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and abortion businesses through budget reconciliation. On March 27, more than 350 grassroots activists traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with hundreds of congressional offices.
