Washington, D.C. – Today, the U.S. Senate passed a budget resolution that will allow committees to start drafting the reconciliation bill if the House passes it. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America celebrated the news:

“We applaud the Senate for taking this step toward unlocking the budget reconciliation process. Through budget reconciliation, Congress has the opportunity to finally stop funding the abortion industry with taxpayer dollars. For far too long, the government has forced taxpayers to subsidize Big Abortion – an industry that harms women and girls, ends babies’ lives and is a terrible investment for taxpayers. Enough is enough,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America. “Thank you, Leader Thune, Chairman Graham, and the GOP conference for working toward a bill that serves families, moms and their babies. We look forward to seeing our tax dollars applied to authentic health care instead of lining the pockets of the profit-driven abortion industry that harms women and kills our most vulnerable.”

Reconciliation bills in 2015 and 2017 included a provision to stop funneling American tax dollars to Big Abortion. This year, Congress can finally end funding for an industry that endangers women, kills unborn children and spends millions lobbying for abortion on demand with no limits. Per their last annual report, Planned Parenthood alone took the lives of nearly 400,000 babies and received almost $700 million – nearly $2 million a day – from taxpayers in just one year.

SBA Pro-Life America and more than 150 pro-life groups across all 50 states are asking Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and abortion businesses through budget reconciliation. On March 27, more than 350 grassroots activists traveled to Capitol Hill to meet with hundreds of congressional offices.
