Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) today thanked House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Kevin Brady (R-TX) for introducing a manager’s amendment which restored the Adoption Tax Credit. SBA List also praised Members of Congress for their leadership in seeking to restore the credit in the House GOP tax reform bill.

“Over the last week our pro-life allies including Reps. Trent Franks, Diane Black, Mike Kelly, Chris Smith worked diligently to restore the Adoption Tax Credit to the GOP tax reform bill. We thank them for their efforts and we thank Chairman Brady for making the critical motion to restore it,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “This important pro-life tax credit costs the government relatively little, but by reducing the steep expenses of adoption, it makes all the difference to tens of thousands of families each year who open their homes and hearts to children in need. The amended bill gives these families the support they deserve in making the courageous, loving decision to adopt.”

SBA List previously sent a letter to Congress expressing support for a provision of the tax reform bill that would give families the option to open 529 educational savings accounts for unborn children, and opposing a provision that repealed the Adoption Tax Credit.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 600,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
