Today House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI) said that the budget reconciliation legislation would include a provision to reallocate taxpayer funding from abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood to comprehensive health care centers.
Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser offered the following comment in support:
“Planned Parenthood is America’s largest abortion provider, performing over 300,000 abortions per year. Today’s commitment by Speaker Ryan to re-direct the abortion giant’s taxpayer funding to community health centers is a victory for women’s health care. Community health centers provide far more services than Planned Parenthood and outnumber them 20 to 1 nationwide. We commend Speaker Paul Ryan on his continued resolve to fund women’s health care, not abortion. His pro-life, pro-woman resolve is shared by Majority Leader McConnell and President-elect Trump, and we are confident Congress will get this important legislation to the President’s desk for his signature after the inauguration.”
“Polling in 2018 Senate battleground states shows that voters support re-directing Planned Parenthood’s funding to community health centers. Vulnerable pro-abortion Democratic Senators need to do a serious gut check, especially following the 2016 election outcome, and decide if they will stand with their constituents and women’s health care or continue to funnel money to big abortion.”
President-elect Donald Trump has made four specific commitments to the pro-life movement, including reallocating Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to comprehensive, whole-woman health care centers.
