Lives Saved Immediately by Enacting the Will of the People
Washington, D.C. – Broad legal protections for unborn children and mothers are in effect in 12 states, and at least eight more states are poised to follow swiftly, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America finds:
- States where broad protections are in effect include:
- Alabama – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- Arkansas – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- Kentucky – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- Louisiana – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- Missouri – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- Ohio – unborn children protected as soon as their heartbeat can be detected.
- Oklahoma – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- South Dakota – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- Texas – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy. Pre-Roe law and Heartbeat Act are in effect; trigger law takes effect 30 days after Roe
- Utah – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy.
- West Virginia – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy; pre-Roe law enforceable.
- Wisconsin – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy; pre-Roe law enforceable.
- States where pro-life protections are expected to go into effect in the coming weeks include:
- Georgia – unborn children to be protected as soon as their heartbeat can be detected.
- Idaho – unborn children to be protected throughout pregnancy, 30 days after reversal of
- Mississippi – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy, as soon as the attorney general certifies Roe has been reversed.
- North Dakota – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy; attorney general has 30 days to certify.
- South Carolina – unborn children protected when their heartbeat is detected, as soon as an injunction is lifted. The state will file a motion in federal court.
- Tennessee – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy, 30 days after reversal of The state has also asked for an injunction against its heartbeat law to be lifted.
- Wyoming – unborn children protected throughout pregnancy, five days after the attorney general certifies Roe has been reversed.
“Now that the Supreme Court has returned the right to protect unborn children to the people, lives are being saved. These children have beating hearts, can suck their thumbs and feel pain,” said SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We thank all our state-level allies including governors, attorneys general, and lawmakers, who listened to the people and now ensure that their will to protect unborn children and women is enacted in the law. This pro-life leadership is contrasted by Democrats who want to impose on the entire country abortion all the way to the moment of birth, paid for by the taxpayers.
“An entirely new pro-life movement has begun and we stand ready to serve women and families. In this mission of justice and mercy, we will never stop expanding the pro-life safety net that includes 2,700 pregnancy centers nationwide and initiatives like SBA Pro-Life America’s Her PLAN, as well as a growing number of state Alternatives to Abortion programs, in order to love and serve both mother and child.”
