Just last week, the House Pro-Life Women’s Caucus came together to defend Life and challenge taxpayer funding for abortion in the District of Columbia. Chairwoman of the House Pro-Life Women’s Caucus, Jean Schmidt (R-OH), was joined by Congresswomen Michele Bachmann (R-MN), Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA), Virginia Foxx (R-NC), Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), and pro-life heroes Congressmen Joe Pitts (R-PA) and Chris Smith (R-NJ).
The House of Representatives is currently considering whether or not to take-up President Obama’s recommendation that taxpayer funds be used to fund abortion in the District of Columbia. In his 2009-2010 budget proposal, President Obama called for the repeal of the Dornan Amendment, which prohibits taxpayer funding of abortion in Washington D.C. (with exceptions in cases of the health of the mother, rape or incest).
Opposition to using taxpayer funds to support abortion on-demand for any reason is bi-partisan. The newest member of the House Pro-Life Women’s Caucus, Congresswoman Kathy Dahlkemper (D-PA), shared her personal story of hope and love that came from her own unplanned pregnancy. She witnessed the birth of her second grandchild just this month! Check out her video:
