On March 27, more than 300 grassroots activists from 39 states gathered on Capitol Hill, determined to send Congress a clear message: stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry. Representing a broad coalition of pro-life organizations, these advocates met face-to-face with lawmakers and congressional staff, telling them exactly why this issue matters and urging them to defund Big Abortion, including Planned Parenthood, through the budget reconciliation process—an avenue that requires only 51 votes in the Senate, rather than the usual 60, to pass.
“We are here to remind our representatives that their constituents care deeply about this issue,” said Barbara from North Carolina, an intern with the National Right to Life Committee. “It’s  crucial our elected officials know we care deeply about defunding Big Abortion.” Barbara met with Senator Thom Tillis and Representative Richard Hudson, sharing the concern that she, and others from back home, have about this topic.

Anthony Pro-Life America’s leadership is what motivated her to travel to D.C. for Lobby Day. “During my time as a field director, I’ve really come to trust and appreciate SBA’s leadership. They stand by their principles, and I’m proud to be here alongside them, fighting to take away Big Abortion’s taxpayer funding,” she said. Joan is particularly concerned about the abortion industry’s influence on young people, adding, “The abortion industry encourages abortion, and I don’t like the fact that they are targeting our children.”

She believes the government’s continued financial support of the abortion industry is unjust. “Pro-life Americans fund their own movement, so it’s completely inequitable that our tax dollars—money we’re required to pay—are being used for something we abhor,” Dale explained. “If people feel abortion is important, they should fund it themselves.”

Connor, a student at Patrick Henry College in Virginia, emphasized the moral clarity of the issue. “The fight against abortion is one of the most obvious moral battles of our time,” he said. “Lobby Day is a chance to bring that clarity to lawmakers, to make them see what’s at stake.” After meeting with his representative’s staff, Connor was encouraged by their commitment to the cause. “It went fantastic,” he said. “We discussed the Born-Alive bill and other ways to defund Big Abortion. They’re working hard on this.”

Rep. Johnson was optimistic, telling Alfonso, “It’s just a matter of time” before Big Abortion loses federal funding. Later, in Leader Thune’s office, Alfonso lobbied for pro-life policies and was surprised when Thune recognized him from a video sent to Thune’s office—one featuring Alfonso and fellow student canvassers thanking the senator for his pro-life leadership.
All involved felt the day’s success, as SBA’s leadership united pro-life advocates in this critical effort. Volunteers were energized by the opportunity to bring the fight for life directly to Capitol Hill.
As the day concluded, many activists reflected on their experiences, knowing their efforts were not in vain. “I’m proud to be a part of this movement,” said Jonathan, another volunteer. “SBA’s leadership is truly making a difference.”

Together, we defunded Big Abortion of $500 MILLION of our tax dollars. But now, Planned Parenthood is fighting back and suing in hopes of getting their hands on your tax dollars once again to fund their abortion business.
They even got their first victory in this attempt when a rogue Obama-appointed federal judge in Boston blocked the Big Beautiful Law’s defunding of Planned Parenthood under Medicaid.
