Democratsâ Extremism is a Liability with General Election VotersÂ
Washington, D.C. â Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement in response to the second round of Democratic presidential debates:
âSo-called âmoderateâ Joe Biden proved is he as much an extremist as anyone else on the debate stage when it comes to forcing taxpayers to fund abortion on demand,â said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. âIn renouncing the Hyde Amendment, Biden would condemn more than 60,000 unborn children every year to a brutal death. His health care proposal goes even further, promising to override the will of the American people and their state representatives who enact popular pro-life laws. Pandering to the abortion lobby might play well in the primaries, but Bidenâs extremism is a liability with the majority of Americans, including Independents and Democrats who oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.â
Polling released by SBA List finds that 55% of voters oppose using federal tax dollars to pay for abortions under Medicaid (40% strongly oppose). This includes opposition among 35% of Democratic voters and 57% of Independent voters.
The poll also found that a majority (50%) of voters are less likely to support Joe Biden (35% strongly less likely to support) following his announcement that he supports using tax dollars to pay for abortions after decades of opposing taxpayer funding of abortion. This includes 55% of Independent voters who say they are less likely to support him.
President Donald Trump has consistently called out the Democratic Party for their support of late-term abortion and even infanticide, following efforts in New York and Virginia to legalize abortion on demand through birth, and has called on Congress to pass the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, legislation that would stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy when science shows unborn children can feel pain.
