Washington, D.C. – Following the 53rd annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., the U.S. Senate is voting on Senator Ashley Moody’s Pregnant Students’ Rights Act. This legislation amends the Higher Education Act to ensure students at colleges and universities are informed of the rights and resources available to pregnant and parenting students.
Last week, the House of Representatives passed this same bill led by Rep. Ashley Hinson, as well as Rep. Michelle Fischbach’s Supporting Pregnant and Parenting Women and Families Act.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser issued the following statement:
“This vote, following the March for Life, builds on strong momentum in Congress under the leadership of Senate Majority Leader John Thune and Speaker Mike Johnson. Pro-life lawmakers have taken decisive action to stop forced taxpayer funding of the abortion industry led by Planned Parenthood, hold the FDA accountable for dangerous mail-order abortion drugs, and stand firm in defense of the Hyde Amendment.
“With the Pregnant Students’ Rights Act, Senator Moody is leading efforts to ensure no student is forced to choose between an education and her child. As many as 60% of women who have abortions reported that they would have preferred to give birth if they had received more support from others or had more financial security. Every woman deserves that support, and Congress is stepping up to serve mothers and protect America’s most vulnerable — the unborn.”
As of 2025, the Hyde Amendment is estimated to have saved more than 2.6 million lives. A majority of Americans oppose domestic taxpayer funding of abortion. Another national poll found 7 in 10 voters want to roll back Biden’s mail-order abortion drug rule and reinstate safeguards like in-person doctor visits.
In October, a pro-life Senate majority of 51 members sent a letter to the FDA demanding answers for why Biden’s covid-era rule is still in place and calling for swift action to remove abortion drugs from the mail. In November, 175 members of the House of Representatives followed with a letter asking the same.
Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
