Pro-Life Leader Calls Out Abortion Lobby, Urges DOJ to Settle With Pro-Life States

Washington, D.C. – A U.S. Army captain stationed in Washington state has been sentenced to 12 years in prison for secretly slipping the abortion drug mifepristone to a junior enlisted soldier who was pregnant with his child, SBA Pro-Life America has learned.

Capt. Brandon Jones-Adams pleaded guilty last week to intentionally killing his unborn child, as well as domestic violence, fraternization and conduct unbecoming an officer, Stars and Stripes first reported. He received the maximum sentence possible under the terms of a plea agreement. Additional details have since been reported:

Jones-Adams, who lived in Puyallup, met the victim in November 2024 and the two began a consensual relationship…The victim, a junior enlisted soldier, became pregnant in May 2025 when both were completing a rotation to South Korea. They redeployed to [Joint Base Lewis-McChord] during the summer of 2025.

While at home on Aug. 21, 2025, Jones-Adams poured the victim a drink. After finishing it, the victim noticed a residue in her cup, immediately suspected Jones-Adams had given her a drug, and soon after began experiencing severe cramping…

Suspicious, the soldier went to the military emergency room, ultimately suffering the loss of the child at approximately 13 weeks. Jones-Adams confessed to drugging the soldier’s drink with mifepristone, which he tried several times to acquire and obtained online using a fake name.

SBA Pro-Life America has documented numerous cases of abortion drug coercion and violence across the nation, including that of Rosalie Markezich, who is suing the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for removing in-person guardrails on dangerous abortion drugs. The 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has granted an expedited hearing, to take place in September.

Over 80 state and national pro-life groups led by SBA Pro-life America are urging Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche and the Department of Justice to resolve the Louisiana v. FDA lawsuit by agreeing to a court-ordered consent decree that would get abortion drugs out of the mail immediately while the FDA completes a prompt, rigorous safety review. Their letter highlights Markezich’s testimony stating, “If mail-order abortion wasn’t a thing, I’m 100% sure I would have my child.”

SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser blasted the abortion lobby and urged the DOJ to act immediately:

“In stark contrast to America’s 250th birthday festivities, crimes that shock the conscience are being uncovered across the country. The latest case proves no part of society is immune to the mail-order abortion drug scourge killing millions of our children and sending countless women to emergency rooms. Under the Joe Biden rule that inexplicably remains in place, easy access to dangerous abortion drugs online, without so much as an ID check, enables abusers to harm innocent women and children in places where we rightly expect the highest standard of conduct. Week after week, the failure to uphold and fight for our founding promises produces shameful, tragic results.

“To the Democrats and all the pro-abortion activists who spent the anniversary of the Dobbs decision—a monumental human rights victory—bewailing the so-called ‘right to choose’ abortion anytime, anywhere, for any reason: Where is your outrage?

Nearly 70% of women having abortions are being pushed into a life-ending decision with lifelong repercussions, when they would rather keep their child, if they could just receive the support they deserve. With no choice and no doctor, the old talking points are completely hollow.

“To the Department of Justice, this has to end today. We echo the founding leaders of the women’s movement in America, who were adamantly against abortion and recognized it as the ultimate exploitation of women, but knew also that there must be prevention and not mere punishment. It isn’t good enough to react after these crimes happen. They can, and must, be stopped. The DOJ has the power to take the first step and end the war with pro-life states over mail-order abortion drugs nullifying their laws. We urge Acting Attorney General Blanche to settle with Louisiana immediately, while the FDA continues undertaking a prompt and rigorous safety review.”

New research from the Charlotte Lozier Institute shows 81% of online abortion businesses send mifepristone to kill unborn children far beyond the 10-week timeframe the FDA has established—putting women at increased risk for life-threatening complications. Other CLI research found three quarters of ER visits within 30 days after abortion drug use were coded as severe or critical. Two separate, independent studies also found more than 1 in 10 women experience at least one severe adverse event. Complications can include hemorrhaging, infection, sepsis, and even death.

Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is a network of more than one million pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
