FDA abortion drug safety review is actively underway

Washington, DC. – In response to Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s update on the FDA’s abortion drug safety review during his Senate Finance Committee hearing today, Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser issued the following statement:

“We are grateful that Secretary Kennedy confirmed the FDA’s review of abortion drugs is now underway and look forward to his promised release of new data after years of the Biden Administration ignoring this urgent issue. Secretary Kennedy even revealed that Biden’s FDA ‘twisted’ data to bury safety signals.  

“We thank pro-life leaders Senators Lankford and Daines for prioritizing women’s safety during the hearing. Senator Daines called out the Biden admin’s illegal mail-order move during COVID-19, and Senator Lankford pressed for an update on the FDA’s review.

“As women and children are harmed, these dangerous drugs continue to be bought and sold with no commonsense safeguards and no accountability. Enough is enough.

“Disturbing reports  that abortion drugs are fueling abuse nationwide are growing– including cases where health care professionals prescribe them off-label to men who then use them against women’s will and without their knowledge. We look forward to hearing the update on restoring the in-person dispensing of mifepristone.”
