Prentice Brings Decades of Experience in Life Sciences Research & Policymaking
WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Charlotte Lozier Institute (CLI), the education and research arm of the Susan B. Anthony List, is pleased to announce today that Dr. David Prentice will join the organization as its Vice President and Research Director. Dr. Prentice brings over three decades of experience in life sciences including stem cells, cloning, cell biology, genetics, biotechnology, bioethics, and life-related research and policymaking.
In his role as research director, Dr. Prentice will have day-to-day responsibility for publication planning and coordination with the CLI staff and its growing network of associate scholars. He will develop research topics in life issue areas including abortion, stem cell research, end-of-life care, genetics and the law, sex trafficking, and other core issues of human dignity and public policy. Dr. Prentice will continue to produce articles on these topics, to speak and travel in behalf of CLI, and to provide and guide testimony to Congress and state legislatures.

Dr. Prentice has had a long and distinguished career as a full-time or adjunct faculty member and researcher at Indiana State University, Indiana University School of Medicine and Georgetown University and as a reviewer for national and international journals. In addition to serving as Senior Fellow and Director for Life Sciences at Family Research Council, Dr. Prentice has been an adjunct professor of molecular genetics at the John Paul II Institute at Catholic University of America and an advisory board member of the Midwest Stem Cell Therapy Center at the University of Kansas Medical Center, a unique comprehensive stem cell center in Kansas he was instrumental in creating.
In addition to establishing Stem Cell Research Facts, an educational website about adult stem cells, Dr. Prentice is a founding member of Do No Harm: The Coalition of Americans for Research Ethics, and an advisory board member for the Center for Bioethics and Human Dignity.
Dr. Prentice received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the University of Kansas, and was at Los Alamos National Laboratory and the University of Texas Medical School-Houston before joining Indiana State University. In addition to his research and teaching at ISU, he served as Acting Associate Dean of Arts and Sciences and Assistant Chair of Life Sciences. He was recognized with the University’s Caleb Mills Distinguished Teaching Award and Faculty Distinguished Service Award.
He received the 2007 Walter C. Randall Award in Biomedical Ethics from the American Physiological Society, given for promoting the honor and integrity of biomedical science through example and mentoring in the classroom and laboratory. He is an Editorial Board Member for the Journal of Tissue Science & Engineering and is listed in Who’s Who in Science and Engineering.
Charlotte Lozier Institute was launched in 2011 as the education and research arm of Susan B. Anthony List. CLI is a hub for research and public policy analysis on some of the most pressing issues facing the United States and nations around the world.
