SBA List’s VP of Communications Mallory Quigley Will Join Pro-life Women Leaders at Press Conference in Richmond

Washington, D.C.  – Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) Vice President of Communications Mallory Quigley will join Victoria Cobb, president of The Family Foundation, Eagle Forum Chairman Anne Cori, and other pro-life women leaders at a press conference this morning at the Virginia Capitol to declare opposition to the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA), which in its current form would amend the U.S. Constitution to include permanent legal protection for abortion on demand.

“Both sides agree that the Equal Rights Amendment, as written, would enshrine abortion on demand through birth, paid for by taxpayers, in the U.S. Constitution – making it even more extreme than Roe v. Wade,” said Quigley. “Feminist pioneers like Alice Paul and Susan B. Anthony understood that abortion is anti-woman, even an exploitation. Alice Paul, the ERA’s original co-author, lamented that her visionary amendment had been hijacked and derailed by abortion activists. It is a shame that her intention and desire to exclude abortion was rejected from the very beginning. It is because we believe in equality for women that we cannot possibly support this amendment without the exclusion of abortion. This is a radical assault on the equal rights of unborn children – including unborn girls – as well as their mothers.”

SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser last month sent a letter urging members of the Virginia General Assembly to oppose ratification of ERA. The full text of the letter is available online.
