Today in response to Senator Reid’s use of the nuclear option to change Senate rules, SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser released the following comment :
“Harry Reid and Senate Democrats have flung open the doors to radically pro-abortion nominees who will back President Obama’s abortion expansion agenda. Shame on Senators with strong pro-life constituencies, especially Kay Hagan (D-NC) and Mary Landrieu (D-LA), for voting to overturn a critical element in the democratic process.
“Make no mistake: Senator Reid will use this new expanded power to thwart the pro-life American majority and advance pro-abortion leaders like Georgetown professor Cornelia Pillard. Pillard is a longtime pro-abortion radical who has called abortion a necessity that frees women from ‘conscription into maternity.’ Looking ahead to 2014, the SBA List will be educating voters in North Carolina, Louisiana, and elsewhere about this vote.”
