WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund, a national pro-life political action committee, announced its endorsement of Steve Southerland for U.S. Congress in Florida’s 2nd Congressional District.
“Since his election in 2010, Congressman Steve Southerland has been a consistent defender of the unborn and women,” said SBA List Candidate Fund President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Last year, Steve cosponsored the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, compassionate legislation to protect unborn babies after five months – more than halfway through pregnancy. Polls show that a majority of Americans, and women in higher numbers than men, support this common sense proposal. Congressman Southerland’s opponent, on the other hand, has earned the endorsement of the radical pro-abortion EMILY’s List, which opposes even modest pro-life reforms like the five month bill.

Steve Southerland was first elected in 2010. While in Congress, Southerland has supported numerous pro-life bills including the Title X Abortion Provider Prohibition Act, the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act, and the Protect Life Act. He serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure. Congressman Southerland has also been endorsed by Florida Right to Life.
Steve Southerland has a 100 percent pro-life voting record from National Right to Life. He will face EMILY’s List-endorsed Gwen Graham (D) in the November 4th general election.
