Pro-life Champion Becomes Highest-ranking Republican Woman in Congress
Washington, D.C. – Today Representative Liz Cheney (R-WY) was elected to serve as chair of the U.S. House of Representatives Republican Conference. The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) praised Cheney in a statement:
“We are proud to see Congresswoman Liz Cheney, a member of our National Pro-Life Women’s Caucus, elected chair of the House Republican Conference. This makes her the highest-ranking Republican woman in Congress,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Liz is a strong, compassionate pro-life champion, speaking out boldly on the House floor in favor of legislation to stop late-term abortions after five months of pregnancy and protect babies born alive during failed abortions. We congratulate Congresswoman Cheney and look forward to continuing to work together to safeguard the most vulnerable.”
Rep. Cheney is a co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act and the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act, for which she led debate on the House floor, the Life at Conception Act, and the No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act.
SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.Â
