Washington, DC – Today, the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of State Senator Erin Houchin in her campaign to represent Indiana’s 9th Congressional District.
“Senator Erin Houchin is exactly the type of pro-life champion we want to send to Congress. In Indiana, she has authored and supported pro-life legislation in the State Senate, and has proven to be a vocal advocate for the unborn and their mothers,” said former U.S. Congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, Vice President of Government Affairs for Susan B. Anthony List. “I am confident Erin will continue to lead for life in Washington, as she has in Indiana.”
Senator Erin Houchin recently supported SB 313 in the Indiana General Assembly, which prohibits abortions based solely on sex, and authored legislation which sought to criminalize the transportation of a minor across state lines to avoid state parental consent laws. She has committed to working to defund Planned Parenthood if elected. She has also been endorsed by Indiana Right to Life.
The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
