Maria Birnbaum

National Grassroots Director

Defending life has always been part of Maria’s story.

She began with marching for the unborn in Boston with her mother, then became a leader for La Leche League, serving moms of infants, and organizing pro-life campaigns such as the 40 Days for Life.

Her heart for children (she and her husband Richard have four: Justin, Ethan, Vangi and Eliana, and a grandson, Declan) then led her to start her own homeschool group, South Mountain Home School. She also served as VP of Sacred Heart Home Educators, one of the largest homeschool groups in Arizona, and assisted low-income and incarcerated women and teens as a birth doula.

Maria joined SBA as a Field Director (Arizona ’18 and ’20) and became a State Director (Arizona ’22, ’24 and Nevada ’22). She now serves as the National Grassroots Director, supervising and training our team of State Directors.
