Dannenfelser: Massachusetts Abortion Until Birth Law is the Dem Agenda for the Entire Country

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Exposing the Democrats’ agenda of nationalizing abortion at any point in pregnancy is a winning message for Republican candidates, according to new message testing released by Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America. The message testing conducted in swing midterm races show that going on offense to call out Democrats’ extremism on late-term abortion moves the margin 4-5 points toward the pro-life candidate.

In a memo to GOP candidates, SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser connects message testing results with the shocking law Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey signed last week establishing elective abortion until birth:

“Your opponent is likely on the record supporting similar or identical laws. Elective abortion through all trimesters is the mainstream position of Democratic elected officials and politicians, even though less than half of their voters support such a view. Nearly every single Democrat in Congress has co-sponsored or voted for legislation that would legalize late-term elective abortion in every state. Even many ‘moderate’ candidates in swing states – like David Crowley in Wisconsin, or Sherrod Brown in Ohio – are on record directly supporting elective abortion in the fifth month of pregnancy or later.

“Voters hate this. In our message testing this cycle, every top-performing message highlights the Democratic candidate’s support for late-term elective abortion.”

This election cycle, SBA Pro-Life America and its affiliated entities plan to spend $80 million to protect life across America. As part of the investment to reach 10.5 million voters in the midterms, SBA Pro-Life America and Women Speak Out have gone door to door mobilizing voters with the message of the Democrats’ goal to establish a Massachusetts-style national all-trimester abortion mandate (the deceptively named Women’s Health Protection Act).

“Masschusetts’ barbaric new Abortion Up Until Birth Act is the Democrats’ agenda for the entire country,” says Dannenfelser. “If they control the levers of power in Washington, D.C., they will pass a national law requiring every state to allow elective abortion on demand throughout the second and third trimesters. Brutal late-term abortions done by dismemberment and lethal injection into a baby’s heart will be greenlit across this nation and states will be banned from protecting unborn children at any point.

“When Republicans expose this extremism, they will reap the benefits in the midterms and thwart the shocking de facto position of the Democrat Party. This is a shared goal of establishment Democrats and socialist candidates: They want to ban any and all limits on abortion, everywhere.”

Twelve states plus the District of Columbia currently allow abortion at any point, including Vermont, New Jersey, Minnesota, and Colorado. The U.S. is 1 of 8 countries in the world along with China that allow abortion at any point, according to a 2024 study. According to the Charlotte Lozier Institute, over 60,000 abortions a year occur after 15 weeks—a point by which science shows the baby feels pain.
