Deceptive Donnelly Sides with Abortion Giant Planned Parenthood Again
Dannenfelser: “Hoosiers deserve a senator who actually votes pro-life, not Joe Donnelly”
Washington, D.C. – This afternoon Sen. Joe Donnelly (D-IN) voted against an amendment offered by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) to the Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations bill that would stop taxpayer funding from going to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion business. In response the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement:
“Pro-life Hoosiers cannot trust deceptive Joe Donnelly to stand up for unborn children. Senator Donnelly claims to be pro-life, but he has a history of betrayal on important pro-life votes, including today when he once again voted in support of sending taxpayer dollars to America’s largest abortion business, Planned Parenthood. His record is dramatically out of step with his constituents,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony List.
“This is exactly why the SBA List field team has spent months on the ground in Indiana where we will be active through Election Day, reaching out to pro-life voters who don’t always get to the polls, as well as persuadable Democrats, Independents, and Hispanic voters. Hoosiers deserve a Senator who consistently votes pro-life, not Joe Donnelly.”
Sen. Donnelly has flip-flopped on the issue of taxpayer funding of abortion:
- March 2010: Sen. Donnelly voted for taxpayer-funded abortion in Obamacare.
- August 2015: Sen. Donnelly cast a pro-life vote when he voted for Cloture On S. 1881, A Bill To Prohibit Federal Funding For Planned Parenthood.
- December 2015: Just a few months later, Sen. Donnelly voted to allow Planned Parenthood to receive taxpayer funding.
- March 2017: Sen. Donnelly voted with pro-abortion Democrats against a resolution that would nullify an HHS rule that prevents states from restricting federal family planning funding to Planned Parenthood.
SBA List’s field team of more than 500 pro-life canvassers has visited more than 300,000 Indiana voters’ homes to educate them on Sen. Donnelly’s record and the importance of voting pro-life. The ground activity is part of an historic effort to visit more than two million homes across the battleground states of Indiana, Ohio, Florida, Missouri, West Virginia, North Dakota, and Montana ahead of Election Day 2018. Last month the SBA List team held press conferences outside of Sen. Donnelly’s offices in Indianapolis, Evansville, and Fort Wayne, as well as in Terre Haute and Lafayette urging Donnelly to respect the will of Indiana voters by supporting the nomination of Judge Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
