Washington, D.C. –  Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Michelle Garcia Holmes for Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico. The primary election will take place Tuesday, June 5.

“We are proud to endorse Michelle Garcia Holmes for Lieutenant Governor of New Mexico. Michelle is an utterly fearless champion of unborn children and their mothers,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “As a former police officer, Michelle worked tirelessly throughout her community to protect women and their families. In the Attorney General’s office, she fought against human trafficking and the exploitation of children. We know she will bring her work ethic and dedication to her role as Lieutenant Governor where she will continue fighting both for women and their unborn children.”

Michelle Garcia Holmes accepted the endorsement saying:

“It is an honor to be endorsed by Susan B. Anthony List. I believe in protecting the most innocent among us – including vulnerable unborn children in the womb. Protecting the sanctity of life is a top issue for me and many across New Mexico. As Lieutenant Governor I will fight for the rights of all New Mexicans, born and unborn.”

Garcia Holmes is a former police officer and served in the former Attorney General’s office as Chief of Staff, where she fought to pass new Mexico’s first anti-human trafficking law and make Child Pornography laws tougher. As a chaplain with the International Federation of Chaplains Garcia Holmes participates in local government, working with churches and state elected representatives to encourage support for pro-life, pro-family legislation. She and her husband Earl have five children and two grandchildren.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion.
