Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America Expands State Affairs Team, Prepares for Pro-Life Victories in the States

Washington, D.C. Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America is pleased to announce its growing state affairs team under the leadership of Stephen Billy, who will serve as SBA Pro-Life America’s new vice president of state affairs.  In this role Billy will oversee the group’s state operation and work to advance the group’s state-based priorities. Stephen Billy is transitioning from his current role as executive director of Charlotte Lozier Institute, the research entity at the forefront of using science to educate and promote the value of human life. Prior to joining CLI, Stephen worked in the Trump administration from 2017-2020, serving as senior advisor at the White House Office of Management and Budget, deputy chief of staff at the Office of Personnel Management, and deputy chief of staff at the Bureau of Industry and Security.

The SBA Pro-Life America State Affairs team will also be led by:

  • Sue Liebel, Director of State Affairs and Midwest Regional Director
    In this role Liebel will work closely with the state policy director to advance SBA Pro-Life America’s policy goals in the Midwest. Based in Indiana, Liebel has worked for more than 25 years in policy development, program design and implementation, lobbying and political strategy.

 

  • Caitlin Connors, Southern Regional Director
    Based in Alabama, Connors will advance SBA Pro-Life America’s policy goals in the southern United States. Caitlin has been with SBA Pro-Life America since 2016 having served prior as the group’s political director.

 

  • Adam Schwend, Western Regional Director
    Based in Nebraska, Schwend will advance the group’s policy goals in the western United States. Adam is a native of the Oregon Coast where he began his political career as a campaign manager and consultant.

 

  • Katie Glenn, State Policy Director
    Katie previously served as government affairs counsel at Americans United for Life. Katie was admitted to the Bars of Iowa and the District of Columbia. Katie earned her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida and her Bachelor of Arts degree from Tulane University.

“As we stand at the threshold of a post-Roe America, now more than ever we need a strong state team that will bring their wealth of knowledge and vast experience to the states, championing pro-life legislation that will save unborn babies and support mothers and families,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, president of SBA Pro-Life America. “Our team looks forward to working with state legislators and governors to do the will of people and enact pro-life laws in states around the country.”

SBA Pro-Life America’s growing state affairs team will replicate the organization’s success at the federal level by heavily investing in legislative, educational, and political engagement and leveraging pro-life electoral victories to advance life-saving law and policy.

This election cycle, SBA Pro-Life America and its entities plan to spend $78 million to protect life across America. This includes reaching eight million voters across battleground states – four million directly at their doors – to take back the U.S. House and Senate.
