Abortion Drugs Fuel Abuse: Ohio Man Force-Fed Girlfriend Mail-Order Abortion Drugs
Mail-order abortion drugs are extremely dangerous, routinely sending women and girls to the ER while killing countless unborn children. Without an in-person doctor’s visit, women and girls are vulnerable to abuse, coercion, and serious medical complications. These tragedies are not hypothetical; they continue to happen again and again.
The latest example is horrifying: an Ohio man ordered abortion drugs online and force-fed them to his pregnant girlfriend against her will. She was hospitalized, and her baby died.
The Ohio Medical Board unanimously voted to suspend the license of the University of Toledo Medical Center surgery resident involved, finding “clear and convincing evidence” that he poses an immediate danger to the public.
What Happened
According to the Board’s findings:
- University of Toledo Medical Center surgery resident Dr. Hassan-James Abbas separated from his wife in October 2024 and began a new relationship shortly after.
- On December 7, 2024, his girlfriend told him she was pregnant. He allegedly pressured her to abort their baby.
- The next day, without her knowledge, Abbas allegedly ordered mifepristone and misoprostol online from an out-of-state abortion business using his estranged wife’s name and date of birth (without her consent) and his own credit card and mailing address.
- The drugs were delivered to his home on December 11.
- His girlfriend’s first OB appointment was scheduled for January 8, 2025.
- On December 15, she drank hot chocolate he gave her at his home.
- On December 17, she returned for dinner but refused tea he had prepared for her.
- Abbas later admitted to crushing the drugs to make them dissolve faster and adjusting the dosage.
- The victim reported waking up to Abbas holding her down and forcing the crushed drugs into her mouth.
She escaped and drove to the emergency room, where she was diagnosed with vaginal bleeding. Her baby died. Hospital notes stated:
“Assault victim (Pt was held down by the neck by sexual partner after telling him she had a positive pregnancy test. Pt states that he forced an unknown substance into her mouth. She shoved and scratched him off her and got away at kitchen).”
A Pattern of Abuse Enabled by Mail-Order Abortion Drugs
This horrific case is not isolated.
- Rosalie Markezich of Louisiana recently sued the FDA after her boyfriend forced her to abort her wanted baby using abortion drugs he ordered online, using his own name.
“If the Biden FDA had not removed in-person dispensing, my then-boyfriend would not have been able to obtain abortion drugs and pressure me to take them against my will,” Rosalie said.
- In Parker County, Texas, Justin Anthony Banta, 38, was charged with secretly spiking his pregnant girlfriend’s coffee with abortion drugs he allegedly ordered online. She was joyfully expecting and had just come from a sonogram appointment when she was poisoned. She rushed to the ER the next day with severe bleeding. Her baby did not survive.
- In Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a mother ordered abortion drugs online and forced her pregnant teenage daughter to take them, ending the life of her wanted baby. The teen had been excited for her pregnancy, but after being coerced into taking the drugs, she suffered a medical emergency and was hospitalized. Her baby did not survive.

Abuse Enabled by the FDA:
This Ohio case is a devastating reminder of how Joe Biden’s mail-order abortion policy endangers women and empowers abusers. This mother wanted to carry and meet her baby, but her boyfriend had other plans. Because the FDA allows dangerous abortion drugs to be ordered online with no oversight, this mom and her child were violently assaulted.
