Carrying the Momentum Forward for LIFE

SBA supporters gathered one final time in Washington, D.C. to close out the SBA Pro-Life America Gala events with a meaningful brunch. After an inspiring Gala and Luncheon the day before, the mood was one of reflection and excitement for the work ahead.

The Gala the night before brought together so many pro-life champions from across the country and featured an uplifting performance by the Friends of Club 21 Choir — a choir made up of individuals with Down syndrome who joyfully use their voices to celebrate life. The evening also showcased speeches from bold leaders in the pro-life movement, including Senators Bernie Moreno (R-OH), Steve Daines (R-MT), Tim Sheehy (R-MT), and Jon Husted (R-OH), with Speaker of the House Mike Johnson delivering the keynote address. It was a night of celebration, setting the stage for continued action and progress in the fight for life.

The next morning, longtime SBA supporter Heather Washburne opened our brunch with a heartfelt prayer. She spoke of how powerful and touching the Gala had been and reflected on the significance of hearing so many pro-life leaders speak with courage and conviction.

After the prayer, The Honorable Kelly Loeffler — former U.S. Senator from Georgia and current Administrator of the Small Business Administration — took the stage. She thanked SBA President Marjorie Dannenfelser for her steadfast leadership and for inspiring her own journey in the pro-life movement. Loeffler called the fight for life “the most important human rights issue of our time” and emphasized that defending the unborn is a moral obligation.

“We have a duty and obligation to protect life,” Loeffler said, as the crowd gave her a standing ovation. She went on to highlight how encouraged she is by the rising generation of pro-life warriors. “Young people are listening, and they’re passionate about this cause,” she added, emphasizing the importance of continuing to inspire and equip the next generation.

Kelly’s words resonated with many in the room, including Jennifer, a new Georgia resident who had traveled from Atlanta to attend the Gala events. “Kelly’s speech was the highlight for me,” Jennifer said. “As someone who recently moved to Georgia, it really struck me how heartfelt and grounded she was. She made me feel like I could be a part of this movement in my state — and now I want to get more involved.”

Next on stage was Carlyle Gregory, Senior Campaign Strategist for SBA, spoke about the road ahead for the pro-life movement. He shared an overview of the strategy guiding SBA’s work in the upcoming midterm elections, emphasizing key battlegrounds where victories could shape the future of life protections.

“We have a lot of work ahead of us, but we’re ready for the challenge,” Carlyle said, outlining how SBA will remain focused and active in key states to build on the momentum.

Frank Cannon, SBA’s Chief Political Strategist, then joined the stage alongside Tim Edson, SBA’s former National Field Director and current founding partner of the public affairs firm Strategy to Results, they shared insights on the effectiveness of SBA’s voter contact program, which relies on direct, one-on-one conversations with voters at their doors.

“We’re not just knocking on doors; we’re engaging voters one-on-one,” Frank explained. “It’s about changing hearts and minds, and that’s how we win.

They emphasized how SBA’s voter contact program has already moved the needle in past election cycles and remains essential for upcoming contests. Carlyle rejoined the pair for a closing Q&A session, where attendees asked thoughtful questions about SBA’s outreach and the path forward.
