Hundreds of Christians are gathering in Des Moines this Friday for the annual FAMiLY Leadership Summit where SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser will be a featured speaker. The event that’s known for its impact on conservative politics in the state and the Iowa caucus is sure to be a celebratory occasion with the recent defunding of Planned Parenthood and abortion businesses.
Ahead of the event, a Planned Parenthood chain in Ames, IA, shut down due to Title X funding frozen by the Trump Administration. Three other Planned Parenthoods in the state are reported to be shutting their doors soon under the Title X freeze. It’s to be determined how many more will close their doors under the defunding provision in the One Big Beautiful Bill passed by Congress last week. Planned Parenthood says they could close up to 200 death centers nationwide – at the same time they’re suing the Trump Administration in an attempt to thwart democracy and claw back taxpayer dollars.
Dannenfelser has called the successful effort to defund big abortion “the greatest pro-life victory since the Dobbs decision.”
In her speech, Dannenfelser will talk about the impact of this win as well as what comes next for the pro-life movement – in Iowa and beyond. She will emphasize the fight for life is not close to being won yet with 1.1 million abortions happening in the U.S. annually after the fall of Roe.
“SBA Pro-Life America is a faithful champion for the sanctity of human life and a national leader in electing men and women to office who advocate for laws that save lives,” says Bob Vander Plaats, president and CEO of The FAMiLY Leader, who will also speak at the event.

Together, we defunded Big Abortion of $500 MILLION of our tax dollars. But now, Planned Parenthood is fighting back and suing in hopes of getting their hands on your tax dollars once again to fund their abortion business.
They even got their first victory in this attempt when a rogue Obama-appointed federal judge in Boston blocked the Big Beautiful Law’s defunding of Planned Parenthood under Medicaid.
