It’s not always easy to tell fact from fiction. Especially when it comes to industry giants like Planned Parenthood, who for years has relied on the talking heads of the media, Big Tech and Hollywood to spit out their talking points. However, the charade can only last for so long, especially when it involves the lives of real moms and babies.

It’s time to correct the narrative by debunking three of Planned Parenthood’s most common myths.

1. Myth: Women won’t have access to health care without Planned Parenthood

Fact: Planned Parenthood does not offer a broad range of health care. Women have access to thousands of affordable community-based health clinics nationwide, without having to subject themselves to the coercive, conveyor-belt style of Planned Parenthood facilities.

Federally Qualified Health Centers provide quality, holistic care to those who have difficulty accessing medical services. These centers provide a wide range of services and are led by professional medical staff. They are required to serve everyone, even if they cannot pay.  According to the most recent data from the Charlotte Lozier Institute, FQHCs reported 932,683 mammogram patient visits, while Planned Parenthood reported 0. In the same year, FQHCs provided more than 9 million pap tests, which is 7 times the amount reported by Planned Parenthood. These centers fill in the gap where Planned Parenthood falls short.

2. Myth: Abortion is just a small percentage of the many other pregnancy-related services that Planned Parenthood provides.

Fact: Over 97% of pregnant women who walk through the doors of Planned Parenthood will end up getting an abortion. In Planned Parenthood’s own reporting, prenatal services account for only 1.6%, miscarriage care 0.9%, and adoption referrals 0.4% of the rest.

It’s not only pregnancy-related services that have dropped over the years. Since 2010, their total services are down by 17.0%, their cancer screening and prevention services have dropped by 71%, breast exams have dropped by 72%, and pap tests by 74%. Even Planned Parenthood’s contraception services are down by 39%.

While Planned Parenthood claims, “Your body, YOUR choice,” women like Elizabeth Gillette describe feeling pressured and coerced by Planned Parenthood into getting an abortion:

“I did not get a full, supportive picture of what my options were. Instead, the coercion to make the choice to abort started almost immediately. As soon as I made that 1st phone call…My entire experience proved that my care was less important to them than the $800 my boyfriend slid across the table,” Elizabeth testified.

Thankfully, this was not the end of Elizabeth’s motherhood journey. She ended up getting pregnant again and this time received care at a pregnancy resource center. Elizabeth describes her experience with getting an ultrasound at a PRC:

“I was so nervous, but they reassured me that no matter what we found, I wouldn’t be facing it alone.”

Approximately 75% of women at risk for abortion who view an ultrasound of their baby at a pregnancy center will decide to continue their pregnancy. In contrast, 97% of the time Planned Parenthood sells abortion to women instead of life-affirming alternatives for both mom and baby.

3. Myth: Planned Parenthood wants politics and politicians out of people’s personal decisions

Fact: Planned Parenthood Action Fund, the political arm, consistently endorses Democratic candidates. PPAF spent $69.5 million during the 2024 election cycle alone to elect extreme pro-abortion politicians and enshrine abortion throughout pregnancy with no limits in state constitutions. It’s clear who they support, and why wouldn’t they, when the radical left unapologetically lobbies for abortion on demand.

Even on the supposedly non-political side, a Planned Parenthood branch in Florida allegedly provided office space to the Harris-Walz campaign in violation of their tax-exempt status. And let’s not forget the abortion bus that Planned Parenthood parked outside the Democratic National Convention to give free abortions and vasectomies for Democratic voters.

Planned Parenthood is far from nonpartisan on the subject of abortion. They have strong political and financial incentives to undermine Republican leaders who seek to protect the unborn and support mothers.

Instead of shoveling taxpayer funds to such a radical organization, our government should prioritize health centers and pregnancy resource centers that offer real help and resources to women.
