This week, was a very busy and successful news week for the Susan B. Anthony List, earning positive coverage of the organizationâs role in the 2010 mid-term elections and the effectiveness of its efforts to stall the campaigns of pro-abortion incumbents.
On Wednesday, SBA List and the National Organization for Marriage (NOM) launched a $200,000 Hispanic television ad campaign supporting California Republican Senate candidate Carly Fiorina. The ads aired on Spanish language television stations in Los Angeles, Fresno and San Diego while the âVota Tus Valoresâ bus tour, sponsored by SBA List, the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles and NOM, continued its tour through the state.
On Thursday, SBA List responded to efforts by Rep. Steve Driehaus (OH-01) to silence his critics through criminal statute concerning his vote in support of the pro-abortion health care bill. The complaint was spurred, in part, by SBA Listâs intention to put up four billboards across his Congressional district. Rep. Driehaus ordered the billboard company not to put up the signs until the matter was settled by the Ohio Elections Commission and a hearing was set for Thursday, October 14th in Columbus, OH. Several outlets including The Weekly Standard and Cincinnati.com wrote on the story immediately.
On Friday, the Susan B. Anthony List, CitizenLink, the Pennsylvania Family Council and Indiana Family Action announced the launch of a $240,000 television advertising campaign consisting of two $120,000 campaigns that aired in Rep. Kathy Dahlkemper (PA-03) and Rep. Joe Donnelly’s (IN-02) districts, highlighting their votes in favor of the pro-abortion health care bill. The 30-second ads began airing on Friday and the average viewer in their respective districts was expected to see them eight or nine times over the course of their ten-day broadcast.
Also this week, SBA List also announced its endorsement of AR-04 candidate Beth Anne Rankin, AR-02 candidate Tim Griffin and Alaska U.S. Senate Candidate Joe Miller alongside a $10,000 radio ad campaign against Millerâs write-in opponent Lisa Murkowski.
In addition to coverage of these initiatives, FoxNews.com featured an opinion piece by SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser entitled âWhy Pro-Life Women are Shining in the Political Spotlight This Season.â
