In response to news that U.S. District Judge Lee Yeakel has issued an order blocking enforcement of a law passed by the Texas legislature which bans dismemberment abortion, Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) President Marjorie Dannenfelser made the following comment:
“Judge Yeakel’s order claims that it is in the public interest to preserve the status quo and allow babies to be brutally torn apart inside what should be the safest place in the world, their mothers’ wombs. The pro-life citizens of Texas and their elected representatives clearly disagree with the status quo and want to ban this cruel procedure. Once again, in this matter of basic human decency, the people are light-years ahead of the courts. Shame on Judge Yeakel and on any judge who obstructs them in their desire to protect vulnerable unborn children from the excruciating pain of dismemberment abortion.”
