Latest Pro-life Bill a Sign of Momentum Ahead of Landmark SCOTUS Decision

Washington, D.C.The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated today as the Oklahoma Legislature passed S.B. 612, legislation that would protect unborn children and their mothers throughout pregnancy. The bill passed the House 70-14 after passing the Senate last year and now heads to Governor Kevin Stitt (R) for his signature. Stitt has promised to sign every piece of pro-life legislation that reaches his desk.

The lives of nearly 3,800 unborn children would be saved by this legislation, according to Oklahoma’s 2020 abortion data.

SBA List Vice President of Communications Mallory Carroll praised Oklahoma lawmakers and said:

“Oklahoma is one of the most pro-life states in the country and they’re eager to protect unborn children and women from the harm of abortion. This latest bill passage is yet another sign of the continued pro-life momentum we’re seeing nationwide as lawmakers and pro-life Americans await a decision from the Supreme Court in the Dobbs case.”

In Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization, a case involving a Mississippi law that limits abortion after 15 weeks, the Supreme Court will address whether all pre-viability abortion limits are unconstitutional. A decision is expected in the spring or summer of 2022.

SBA List is a network of 900,000 pro-life Americans nationwide, dedicated to ending abortion by electing national leaders and advocating for laws that save lives, with a special calling to promote pro-life women leaders.
