SBA List, First Freedom Ohio will Mobilize Voters Statewide to Defeat Pro-abortion Extremist Sen. Sherrod Brown

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) and First Freedom Ohio, the grassroots action partner of Citizens for Community Values, announced a joint campaign to reach one million Ohio voters at their doors by Election Day 2018.

This historic, statewide GOTV effort will focus on low-turnout pro-life voters, including persuadable Democrats and Hispanics, to protect the pro-life Senate majority elected in 2016 and defeat pro-abortion candidates.

“In the 2016 election cycle, SBA List worked with local pro-life allies to reach more than 1.1 million voters at their doors in key battleground states like Ohio in our largest get-out-the-vote campaign ever,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “We’re on the ground early and on track to surpass that record, with a goal of reaching one million low-turnout pro-life voters – including persuadable Democrats and Hispanics – in Ohio alone, educating them about Senator Sherrod Brown’s extreme, 100 percent pro-abortion record. Brown has repeatedly sided with the abortion lobby, voting for abortion on demand up until the moment of birth, paid for with tax dollars, a position that is profoundly unpopular in Ohio and across America.”

“Partnering with SBA List is about transforming Ohio elections for a generation. We’ve got the boots on the ground, the passion, and the strategy to ensure Ohio only elects conservative, pro-life leaders in 2018 and beyond,” said Aaron Baer, President of First Freedom Ohio. “In the digital age, with voters awash in political ads on TV and online, meeting people face-to-face and having a conversation is the most effective way to educate and mobilize voters who might otherwise stay home.”

Polling of Ohio voters from Election Day 2016 found that:

  • 57 percent oppose taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and 60 percent would be less likely to support a Senator who votes in support of Planned Parenthood
  • 67 percent support stopping late-term abortion and 56 percent would be less likely to support a Senator who votes to allow late-term abortion

SBA List canvassers have knocked on more than 100,000 doors in Ohio and Florida since July and recently expanded to Missouri and Indiana this month as part of a nationwide campaign to knock on two million doors by Election Day. During the 2016 election cycle, SBA List canvassers knocked on more than 1.1 million doors in five battleground states, including 138,169 in Ohio.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 600,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
