ACLU Pushing to Make U.S. a Sanctuary Nation for Abortion at the Expense of Mother and Child

Washington, D.C. – This afternoon the D.C. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that the United States government must facilitate an elective abortion for an undocumented teenage girl from Central America who is under the care of the U.S. government. The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) released the following statement in response:

“Today, federal court judges sided with the abortion lobby and its ally the ACLU against true compassion and human dignity,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “The ACLU is pushing its larger agenda of making the United States a sanctuary nation for abortion. This shameful ruling must not stand. The Trump administration’s policy is compassionate and consistent with American laws and values, and we hope to see them appeal this decision.”

SBA List previously praised the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton and pro-life advocates in Texas for asserting that abortion is not health care.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 600,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
