California AG Kamala Harris Seizes Property of Pro-life Activist David Daleiden while Planned Parenthood Backs her Senate Campaign

Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) called on U.S. Senate candidate and current California Attorney General Kamala Harris to resign her position as Attorney General and end her Senate bid due to conflict of interest and abuse of power.

“In her zeal to succeed longtime abortion advocate Senator Barbara Boxer, California Attorney General and U.S. Senate Candidate Kamala Harris this week leaped across the line between her duties as Attorney General to uphold the rule of law and the public trust and her political interests in running for elected office.  The fact that Ms. Harris is seizing private property of a pro-life California activist who has exposed horrific practices conducted by Planned Parenthood, which donated thousands to her last campaign, while her Senate campaign promotes and defends them – the nation’s largest abortion provider – is a conflict of interest and abuse of government power,” said Marjorie Dannenfelser, President of Susan B. Anthony List

Harris obtained a search warrant and sent law enforcement officers to seize the personal property of Center for Medical Progress’ David Daleiden implying that her office is looking into bringing criminal charges against the pro-life videographer.

Last year, Daleiden released a series of undercover videos that exposed Planned Parenthood and other abortion industry groups for harvesting, trafficking and selling aborted baby body parts and alleged that laws were broken.

“To use the heavy hand of her office for personal political gain in a Senate campaign is the epitome of conflict of interest and abuse of power.  Ms. Harris should resign from her Attorney General post and end her bid for the U.S. Senate.  She has abused her government office and no longer deserves the public trust,” Dannenfelser said.

The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women.  The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
