Washington, D.C. –  Today the Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund announced its endorsement of U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith in Mississippi.

“Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith exemplifies the strong pro-life, pro-woman leadership Susan B. Anthony List Candidate Fund exists to promote,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “Cindy is proud of her 100 percent pro-life record and has worked diligently in the Senate to advance protections for unborn children and their mothers, including legislation to stop taxpayer funding of the abortion industry and to protect babies born alive in failed abortions. We are pleased to endorse Sen. Hyde-Smith and urge the pro-life voters of Mississippi to support her so she can continue this crucial work in Washington.”

Cindy Hyde-Smith was appointed to the U.S. Senate by Gov. Phil Bryant in March of 2018 to fill the seat vacated by Sen. Thad Cochran. Previously she served in the state senate for 12 years and then became commissioner of agriculture and commerce, making her the first woman elected to statewide office in Mississippi. She is a co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, the Child Interstate Abortion Notification Act, the Conscience Protection Act, and the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017.

Hyde-Smith and her husband Mike are cattle farmers. They have a daughter and reside in Brookhaven.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 700,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
