Washington, D.C. – Tonight the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) celebrated as its endorsed candidate Karin Housley won her primary for U.S. Senate in Minnesota. Housley is running for the seat vacated by resigning Al Franken (D-MN) in a special election to take place November 6.

“We congratulate Karin Housley on her primary win,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser. “Karin is a strong, principled leader with a 100 percent pro-life record. We are encouraged to see her take on Tina Smith, an abortion industry lobbyist who has spent her career fighting even the most modest, popular pro-life initiatives. Smith will be a rubber stamp for the demands of abortion businesses like Planned Parenthood, but Karin Housley will work to protect unborn children and their mothers and stand up for Minnesota taxpayers. We urge voters to take back this crucial Senate seat from abortion extremists and send Karin to Congress to be their voice.”

Karin Housley has served in the Minnesota state senate since 2013. She is a business owner and a mother. She and her husband Phil have traveled the nation due to his NHL hockey career, but Minnesota remains their home. They have four children and two grandchildren.

Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, visiting more than 1.1 million homes in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
