Washington, D.C. – Today the national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) announced its endorsement of Melanie Leneghan for U.S. House of Representatives in her primary race in Ohio’s 12th congressional district. The general election will take place on November 6, 2018.
“Susan B. Anthony List is proud to endorse Melanie Leneghan, a passionate pro-life advocate and community leader,” said former congresswoman Marilyn Musgrave, SBA List’s Vice President of Government Affairs. “Melanie will stand up to the abortion lobby’s extreme agenda of abortion on demand through birth and fight to end taxpayer funding of abortion giant Planned Parenthood. She is a strong supporter of lifesaving pregnancy help centers. We urge pro-life voters to get out to the polls this Tuesday and support Melanie in her primary.”
Melanie Leneghan accepted the endorsement saying:
“I am honored to be endorsed by Susan B. Anthony List. I share the deep conviction of most Ohioans that life is precious and every American – born and unborn – deserves to be protected. I am eager to work with President Trump to advance policies that promote respect for life, and I look forward to being a strong voice for Ohio values in Congress.”
Leneghan serves as a trustee for Liberty Township. Before entering public service, she was a businesswoman for more than fifteen years. She supports the pro-life, pro-family organizations Pregnancy Decision Health Center and Relationships Under Construction. She has been endorsed by multiple pro-life organizations and leaders including Ohio Right to Life, First Freedom Ohio, and House Freedom Caucus Founder Jim Jordan. She and her husband have two daughters.
Susan B. Anthony List and its partner super PAC, Women Speak Out spent more than $18 million in the 2016 election cycle, knocking on more than 1.1 million doors in battleground states to defeat Hillary Clinton and maintain a pro-life Senate. SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 630,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
