National Pro-life Group Cheers Rubio’s Decision to Run
Washington, D.C. – The national pro-life group Susan B. Anthony List (SBA List) offered the following comment in response to Marco Rubio’s (R-FL) decision to seek re-election to the U.S. Senate.
“For months the Susan B. Anthony List Florida team has been going door to door to speak with Florida voters – including women, Hispanics, and persuadable Democrats – about the importance of life issues in the upcoming election. We have knocked on more than 200,000 doors in the sunshine state. Sen. Rubio’s announcement today provides a shot of enthusiasm to our already robust pro-life campaign. Not only do we welcome his return to the race, we have laid the groundwork for victory on Election Day,” said SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser.
“Rubio is one of the strongest, most articulate champions in the fight for unborn children and their mothers. Sen. Rubio provides us with the strongest chance to win and maintain this consistent pro-life voice in Washington.”
SBA List’s Florida field team, a ground operation of 110 canvassers, have knocked on more than 200,000 doors during this election cycle.
Sen. Rubio was the keynote speaker at SBA List’s fifth annual Campaign for Life Gala. During the 2016 presidential campaign he distinguished himself by responding compassionately and consistently to questions about his abortion position, defending the value of every life. He also stated, “I would rather lose an election than be wrong on the issue of life.”
The Susan B. Anthony List and its Political Action Committees, the SBA List Candidate Fund and Women Speak Out PAC, spent $16.71 million in the 2014 election cycle to defeat pro-abortion incumbents and elect pro-life candidates to federal and statewide office. The SBA List is dedicated to pursuing policies and electing candidates who will reduce and ultimately end abortion. To that end, the SBA List emphasizes the education, promotion, mobilization, and election of pro-life women. The SBA List is a network of more than 465,000 pro-life Americans nationwide.
